The story of Osama Al-Najjar's family is one of resilience and unwavering hope.

Before October 7th, life was more simple and full of dreams. The family lived in their warm home, filled with the children’s laughter and the parents worked hard to live with dignity. But that day changed everything. Now, survival is the only goal, with each night together a small victory.

Osama’s family of six has faced unimaginable hardship, fleeing repeatedly and leaving behind their belongings. They now live in a fragile tent, exposed to the elements and lacking even the basics for survival. Clean water and food are daily struggles, the cold bites into the children’s bones and illnesses spread due to the harsh conditions and lack of healthcare.

The family consists of;

  • Maha (40): The resilient mother holding them together.

  • Jinan (20): A sister burdened by survival.

  • Osama (19): Determined to study architecture and rebuild their future.

  • Sami (8): A child robbed of carefree play, trembling at every loud noise.

  • Jwan (5) & Lulu (3): Too young to understand but old enough to feel the fear.

Osama’s family faces overwhelming hardships. Their father was killed by the army while risking his life to retrieve food from their destroyed home. A missile once struck their tent as they slept, injuring his sister, who now depends on unaffordable medications for pain relievers, fever reducers and allergy medication.

Urgent needs include food, water, medical care, warm clothing and shelter repairs.

This aid offers more than survival it restores hope. Osama dreams of becoming an architect but needs a $3,000 laptop, an unattainable cost in Gaza. The family also hopes for a gas stove to replace unreliable, costly firewood and a secure home away from the relentless waves threatening their tent.

Even in the face of unimaginable pain, the family smiles at the children to give them a sense of security. They try to rebuild their lives from the rubble, holding onto hope for a brighter future.

My father died when famine struck. [He] went to a dangerous area to get food... We are not asking for help out of weakness, but so we can stand on our own two feet again.
